The most environmentally friendly, largest and brand new hybrid ferry of Wightlink fleet, Victoria of Wight is delivered in July 2018. Houlder Ltd. was responsible for the conceptual design and the ferry built according to Lloyd’s Register and Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) of United Kingdom rules and requirements.
Victoria of Wight to be served for 178 cars and 1208 passengers with high comfort classed interior and exterior seating decks. In the seven decks, there are dedicated spaces like the coffee store and a shop, playroom, movie room for children and pet-friendly zone.
Onboard of the Victoria of Wight, there are four off medium speed Wartsila 6L20 generator sets 1.200 kW each for the main power source and 2 of 408 kWh Corvus air cooled battery onboard. highly maneuverable Voith Schneider propulsion system and with the help of the asymmetrical bow and stern design the vessel can maneuver easily in the tight in and out of the Portsmouth and Fishbourne ports.
The required time for loading and unloading is significantly reduced with the help of two car decks and specially designed double-tier shores.
