One of the biggest Norwegian ferry operator company Fjord1 has signed contract with Cemre Shipyard for 2 new ferries with zero and low-emission technology. The ferries will be incorporated into the Seivika-Tømmervåg association, with capacity for 80 passenger cars and 399 passengers. The new ferries with NB68 and NB69 hull numbers will be designed by Havyard Ship Design and delivered at Q4 2019.

The vessel has design with the latest environmental demands which comprise battery propulsion with fast charging of the batteries from shore and also arranged with a diesel-electric system.

The vessel to be classed by DNV GL and delivered with a battery system with storage capacity of approx. 2 x 1000 kWh, one connected to each of DC switchboard. The batteries to drive pulling type each 1200 kW thrusters and also meet the hotel load need. In order to change the system to diesel-electric solution, 2 generator sets with 1600 kW capacity in total to be installed.

The double ended design with 95,6 meters length is providing loading and unloading on both ends with hydraulic driven bow visor and ramp facilities. Waste Energy Management System is also used for best energy savings and heat recovery to be work out.
