Designed by OSK-ShipTech A/S and built for the Danish ferry operator Molslinjen, Nerthus was successfully delivered on 17 May 2025 by Cemre Shipyard.

The Ro-Ro passenger ferry Nerthus will operate with zero emissions through 100% battery-powered propulsion, optimized for the Ballen–Kalundborg route.

Measuring 116.8 meters in length, the vessel offers high passenger comfort in line with Scandinavian accommodation standards, combined with advanced onboard technologies.

Nerthus is designed for autonomous functionality, including auto-crossing and auto-docking capabilities in accordance with BV notations, to optimize operations and enhance energy efficiency.

The vessel’s electrical system is designed to ensure full redundancy in the event of any failure. Nerthus is equipped with four steerable thrusters, each driven by electrical permanent magnet motors. Four (4) backup generators, each rated at 493 ekW and fueled by hydrogenated vegetable oil, are available. During normal operations, the required power is supplied solely by the battery system, fully supporting the vessel’s zero-emission concept.
