Today, NB78 Liafjord embarks on its maiden voyage to Norway after being delivered to its customer successfully from Cemre Shipyard.

Lie Gruppen, a trailblazing company at the forefront of industry trends, owns this vessel, following the success of Libas, the world's first LNG&battery-driven fishing vessel.

In a groundbreaking move towards sustainable fishing practices, Salt-designed, the 71-meter-long pelagic trawler has set sail to make waves in the fishing industry.

Classed by BV and proudly bearing the Norwegian flag, this eco-friendly vessel is the world’s first fishing vessel equipped with innovative retractable bow foil technology from Wavefoil.

The bow foils, seamlessly integrated into the vessel's design, significantly reducing motions and energy consumption in challenging wave conditions. This technology not only ensures lower fuel consumption and emissions but also enhances the safety and comfort of the crew on board.  Bow foil technology further empowers the vessel to maintain higher speeds even in rough seas, marking a new era in pelagic trawler capabilities.

Adding to its eco-credentials, the pelagic trawler is fitted with electric winches, a heat recovery system, and a battery-powered hybrid propulsion system underlining its commitment to environmentally conscious practices.
