Cemre Shipyard has proudly delivered NB1099 Tyrfing to the Danish ferry operator Molslinjen on 23 October 2025. Following the successful delivery of her sister vessel NB1098 Nerthus earlier this year, Tyrfing is another milestone in Cemre’s contribution to sustainable ferry transportation in Denmark.
The double-ended Ro-Ro passenger ferry is designed by OSK-ShipTech A/S for 100% battery-powered zero-emission operation, optimized for the Ballen–Kalundborg route. Measuring 116.8 meters in length, the vessel is built under Bureau Veritas (BV) classification and fully complies with Danish National Flag regulations.
Tyrfing and Nerthus stand out not only for their advanced technology but also for their Scandinavian-standard passenger comfort and innovative autonomous functionalities, including auto-crossing and auto-docking operations that ensure optimized efficiency and energy management.
The electrical system provides full redundancy, ensuring safe and reliable operation. Each vessel is powered by four steerable thrusters driven by Permanent Magnet motors and supported by four 493 ekW backup generators running on hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO). However, during normal service, all propulsion and hotel loads are supplied exclusively by the battery system, achieving true zero-emission performance.
Compared to her sister vessel, Tyrfing features an even larger battery capacity, enhancing endurance and energy efficiency to meet the growing environmental expectations of modern maritime transport.
With the Tyrfing and Nerthus projects, Cemre Shipyard continues to demonstrate its expertise in delivering green, smart, and future-ready vessels for a cleaner maritime industry.
