As my first project as a Naval Architect, I was introduced to Wind of Change. Wind of Change is a Service Operational Vessel, built to support wind farms. She is a great example of how shipping industry adapts with present needs of society, in this case need for clean energy. I am very lucky to work on this prototype project as part of Cemre Shipyard family with Louis Dreyfus Armateurs (LDA).

Wind of Change will operate on open seas of German coast in wind farm Gode Wind1-2 with 90 people on board, 64 special personal for maintenance of wind turbines and 26 crew members to operate the ship in open seas of North Sea. Since her operations will take 2 full months offshore, interior part presents a great value for people on board. We built a high comfort home environment for 90 people with the challenge of integrating it with high technology equipment (offshore cranes, gangway etc.) workshops, warehouses, offices which operates 24/7. Our vision was to build a ship where one team can work on operation while another one can rest and spend their free time in the best condition which can be offered in modern shipping.

Wind of Change has 85 cabins, 1 sick bay in hospital, 2 gymnasiums, auditorium, game room, 4 panoramic lounges and offices, conference room,2 meeting rooms, coffee room and a helicopter reception, all designed and built with the highest standards. We created 3D renderings and videos to create an interior concept to meet our client’s expectations. Her compactness has been a big challenge to complete, as an example, we built a 55m2 galley equipped with more than 70 high standard equipment.

It has been a great pleasure to see her rise from all the drawings, technical specifications, datasheets and manual, and become the beauty she is today. We are sure that she will accomplish her mission and help us prepare a cleaner world for children of tomorrow.
